Qatar's Al Mamoun Wins Dubai Kahayla Classic
Doha, March 30 (QNA) - Al Mamoun horse owned by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani won Saturday a 2000 meter race in the The Dubai Kahayla Classic.
The race is worth $250,000 and is part of the 18th Dubai World Cup for Purebred Arabian horses, which kicked off today. UAE's Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al-Maktoum attended the launch of the race, at the Meydan
racetrack in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai. The World Cup's prospective winners will get $27.25 million.
The win meant Al Mamoun retained the cup it won last year. Jockey Christophe Soumillon won the race after a thrilling final second ahead of jockey Paul Hanagan, who rode Versac PY, owned by Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum came second and TM Fred Texas which belongs also to HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani came third.
