RI FOREIGN MINISTRY GETS EXCELLENT PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD 2008
Jakarta, Oct 31 (ANTARA) - The Foreign Ministry was granted by the Office of the State Minister for Administrative Reform the Excellent Public Service Award 2008, a foreign ministry spokesman said here on Friday.
"The Foreign Ministry received the award in appreciation for the services and performances of the Indonesian Embassies in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and also for the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities," Teuku Faizasyah of the ministry said.
"The success of the Indonesian embassies and the directorate is the result of reforms and improvement in the ministry," Faizasyah added.
Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda, Faizasyah said, has urged all of Indonesia's representative missions across the world to improve their public services and make sure there will be no more fees collected without proper legal authority.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Administrative Reform Taufik Effendi said that about 80 best public service units of government institutions will receive a similar award.
"The award is granted to those that have given the best of public services. The award is also expected to encourage other government institutions and agencies of give the best of their public services," Effendi said.
The criteria of excellent public services include having a clear perspective, courage to make changes, developing ideas to improve their services, transparent and accountable, and providing fast and low-cost facilities.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to present the award at the Merdeka Palace at 2 p.m.
