Z.ENKHBOLD MEETS UN SECRETARY-GENERAL

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the USA with the official visit, the Speaker of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold exchaned views with Mr Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the Mongolia-UN relations and cooperation and international issues on Thursday.
Mr Enkhbold expressed thanks to the UN for helping Mongolia in implementing developmental goals, and noted that Mongolia has an intention to actively participate in activities of the international community. Reporting about the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies (CoD), the Speaker affirmed that the UN Secretary-General has been invited to this measure.
In response, Mr Ban underlined that Mongolia has been working with great efforts to develop the democracy, increases women's participation and protects interests of the landlocked countries.
He highly spoken Mongolia's contribution to the UN peacekeeping operations, and expressed thanks to the Mongolian President for visiting the peacekeeping operations in the South Sudan.
The same day, the Speaker met Mr Vuk Jeremic, the president of the UN 67th General Assembly. Mr Enkhbold noted that the resolutions on Mongolian Nuclear Weapon-Free Status and on the Education for Democracy have been adopted by the 67th General Assembly. He also gave details about the Mongolian presidency over the CoD, its goals and measures.
In turn, Mr Jeremic thanked Mongolia for successfully chairing the CoD, and expressed a hope that Mongolia will contribute to tackling many urgent problems facing the international community.
He promised to support all activities and initiatives of Mongolia.
