PRINCE CHARLES TO MAKE FIVE-DAY VISIT TO INDONESIA

Jakarta, Oct. 31 (ANTARA) - Britain's Prince Charles, or the Prince of Wales, will make a five-day visit to Indonesia as part of a tour of several Asian countries.

"Prince Charles is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on November 1 and leave the country again on November 5," Teuku Faizasyah, a spokesman of the foreign affairs ministry, said here on Friday.

During his stay in Indonesia, the British Prince will focus on environmental affairs, as well as interfaith and cultural interactions, according to Faizasyah.

"Prince Charles will talk about climate change, forestry issues and interfaith issues. He is also scheduled to give a presidential lecture on climate change," he said.

Prince Charles will also visit a forestry project at Bunku village, Batanghari District, Jambi Province on Sumatra Island, on November 2, and hold a meeting with religion prominent figures in Yogyakarta.

Before coming to Indonesia, Prince Charles will visit Japan and Brunei Darussalam.

Prince Charles and late Princess Diana visited Indonesia in 1989.

In Jambi, Prince is scheduled to visit an Eco-Tourism Restoration project at Bungku village, Kuang Jaya, Batanghari district.

The project is located about 100 km from the city of Jambi. The location was a former forest concession under the PT Asialog.

Covering 49,000 hectares of land in Jambi (and another 52,000 hectares in South Sumatra), the restoration project site has been handed over to the government to be converted into an ecosystem restoration location, according to information from the Jambi provincial administration.
