PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV HAS GREAT AUTHORITY IN COUNTRY, PAUL GOBLE
Baku, 31 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)Paul Goble, Director of Research and Publications Department of the Azerbaijani Diplomatic Academy, interviewed by the Voice of America, said that Ilham Aliyev had great authority in the country. No matter the leading political parties took part at the elections or not, Ilham Aliyev would certainly win the elections, he emphasized.
According to Paul Goble, stability is an important factor in the South Caucasus, one
of the dangerous and troubled regions of world. Azerbaijan plays a strategic role in
transportation of the Caspian oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline through
Georgia and Turkey to the world markets.
“As President Ilham Aliyev noted,” Mr. Goble stresses, “Azerbaijan pursues expedient
foreign policy keeping balance between Iran and Russia, taking into account
strategic interests of the East in the Central Asia and of the West - in Turkey,
Europe.”
