Qatar Defeats Thailand 1-0 in Friendly Match

Doha , March 17 (QNA) - The Qatari football national team provided itself with a major psychological boost when it defeated Thailand 1-0 on Sunday. They played in the Jassim bin Hamad stadium of Al Sadd Sports Club as part of their preparations to the Asian qualifiers.. Khalfan Ibrahim Khalfan scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute. The match was Qatar's third as they prepare for two vital matches one in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, and the other in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil against Bahrain and South Korea respectively. Qatar is currently joint first in Group D of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers with three points. While in the World Cup qualifiers, Qatar is joint second with seven points, level with South Korea and Iran. Uzbekistan top the group with eight points. (QNA)
