HESS WINS SEMAI V OIL FIELD BLOCK AUCTION

Jakarta, Oct 31 (ANTARA) - The government has named Hess (Indonesia-Semai V) Ltd as the winner of an auction of the Semai V Block of oil fields in Papua which were offered in the 2007/2008 regular tenders, a senior Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) official said.
Hess defeated five other tender participants in the oil field block's auction, Evita Legowo, director general of oil and gas affairs at the ministry, said here Friday.
The other five tender participants were a PT Pertamina EP and Shell Exploration Company BV consortium, Murphy Overseas Ventures Int, PTT EP and Inpex Consortium, Total EP Indonesie, Marathon Energy and Esso.
It was previously predicted that the Pertamina-Shell consortium would win the tendered project.
Director of state-owned oil company Pertamina for upstream affairs Karen Agustiawan said that the right to decide the winner of the tender was in the government's hands.
The government also announced the winners of eight other oil field block auctions.
The names of the auctioned blocks and the respective winning bidders were Bawean oil field block won by Sintezmorneftegaz, Gunting field by Esso Exploration International Limited, Kerapu by Pearl Oil (Tachylyte) Ltd, Makam Hilir by SPC E&P Upstream Pte Ltd, Baronang by Lundin Oil & B Gas BV, Cakalang by Lundin Oil &B Gas BV, Semai II by Murphy Overseas Ventures Inc-PTT EP Public Company Ltd-Inpex Corporation consortium and Semai III by Suma Sarana
