PM IN ZAMYN-UUD SOUM

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday morning the Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag arrived in Zamyn-Uud soum within his working tour to Dornogobi aimag.
During a meeting with authorities of Zamyn-Uud soum, the Premier noted that one of the primary aims of this soum is to study regulations much needed in prevent obstacles and difficulties in passing products and raw materials at the Zamyn-Uud border checkpoint.
The workload at this border checkpoint starts usually from early April when some eight thous. passengers and 1,500 vehicles cross it every day. During the peak time, freight is delayed for up to 20 days. A plan and finances for a construction of new terminals have already been solved, but the work is going too slow, criticized the Minister of Economic Development N.Batbayar. The Premier obliged related Ministries and the aimag's authorities to put into use the terminals by this June.
The second solution to reducing of the checkpoint's load is to properly regulate a cement transport. It triggers a huge and many-day jam at this checkpoint. Almost 60 percent of the big-sized vehicles transport cement from China. The Ministry has calculated that if to transport a half of the cement by railway, the jam will reduce half.
The PM ordered Mongolian Railways and the General Customs Office to tackle these matters by June 1 and to launch the transport of cement by railways.
Apart of these issues, the cabinet for reforms has been working with a big purpose to make the customs actions quicker by establishing an international logistics center at the Zamyn-Uud border checkpoint. It will improve the checkpoint's capability and the customs control, and will reduce the pressure.
The Premier said the logistics center must be opened much earlier not by 2015.
