PARLIAMENT AND UNDP TO CO-IMPLEMENT PROJECTS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Speaker of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold and Resident Representative of UNDP in Mongolia Ms Sezin Sinanoglu signed Wednesday on two important project documents in the Government House. Both projects will be implemented in 2013-2016. The project “Support to participatory legislative process” aims to improve legislating drafting processes through policy analysis, stakeholder open dialogue; enhance access of citizens to their elected representatives; strengthen grievance procedures; and support the implementation of UN Convention against Corruption. The project “Capacity strengthening of local self-governing bodies” focuses on building capacity of local Khurals to fulfil their representational and oversight mandates for improved accountability of local governments and local service delivery. The overall budget of these two projects is US$ 4.5 mln and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Agency will provide US$3.0 mln. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr. A.Bakei, a Chair of the Standing Committee on State Structure; Ms. R.Burmaa, a Chair of the Standing Committee on Petitions; Mr. B.Boldbaatar, a General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat; Mr. Felix Fellmann, Country Director of SDC; and Mr. Diepak Elmer, a Deputy Country Director of SDC.
