TELKOM'S NET PROFIT DOWN 9.1 PCT
Jakarta, Oct 31 (ANTARA) - State telecommunications operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) posted a consolidated net profit of Rp8.92 trillion in the first nine months of 2008, down 9.1 percent from a year earlier.
Operating income in the nine months period rose 2.18 percent to Rp44.6 trillion from Rp43.6 trillion in the same period last year, according to the company's financial statement carried in its official website on Friday.
The decline in net profit lowered earning per share (EPS) to Rp451.08 from Rp491.64.
Income from fixed line services in the January-September 2008 period dropped to Rp7.45 trillion from Rp8.46 trillion a year ago, while income from cellular phone services rose to Rp18.3 trillion from Rp16.7 trillion.
The number of cellular phone subscribers in the first nine months of 2008 recorded a significant growth of 36 percent to 60.5 million from a year earlier with the total number of Flexi cellular subscribers jumping 3.5 million or 63 percent to 9.15 million.
