Britain's Prince Charles and Wife Camilla Visit Museum of Islamic Art
Doha, March 13 (QNA) - Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall this evening visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
The reception was held for Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, in the presence of HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Authority HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, HE Minister of State Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Saud Al Thani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Museums Authority HE Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani, and UK Ambassador to Qatar Michael O'Neill as well as Excellencies ambassadors from Commonwealth countries and a number of ambassadors accredited to the State of Qatar.
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla toured the various sections of the museum and were briefed on the holdings, which represent the glories of Islamic art, including metal and wood crafts, pottery, jewelry, textiles, coins and glass.
Prince Charles' spokesman Paddy Harverson said that the visit to Doha comes as part of the close ties between the United Kingdom and the State of Qatar, pointing out that the visit of the Prince of Wales to the Museum of Islamic Art comes within the context of his cultural interest. (QNA)
