INDONESIAN COMPANIES TO EXPAND EXPORTS TO SURINAME

Jakarta, Oct 31 (ANTARA) - Seventeen Indonesian companies which consist of eight retailers and nine small and medium-scale enterprises (SME), are ready to expand exports to Suriname, according to a foreign ministry statement.

The 17 companies are exploring the export opportunities by taking part in an on-going "Indofair 2008" held in the Sana Budaya Paramaribi cultural complex in Suriname from October 26 to November 3, 2008.
A total of 18 Surinamese companies which are importing Indonesia's commodities are also taking part in the Indofair 2008 event.
Indonesia's export productions on display in the fair include furniture, handicraft products, paintings, food, cosmetics, herbal medicines, ornaments and fire extinguish equipment.
The opening of the fair was attended by at least 800 visitors, including top officials from the Surinamese government such as Land Affairs Minister Jong Thun Fa, Surinamese Parliamentary Chairman Paul Salam Somohardjo, Trade Director of the Trade Ministry and Industry Mauro R.L. Tuur and Chairman of Surinamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Robert Amerall.
