OPPORTUNITY FOR RI-INDIA COOPERATION IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WIDE OPEN

Yogyakarta, Oct 30 (ANTARA) - Opportunities of cooperation between Indonesia and India in information technology are wide open.
India is well known for its rapid progress in information technology.
"There are many potentials of cooperation between Indonesia and India in the information technology sector. Many companies in India are willing to expand their business in Asian countries like Indonesia," Indian ambassador to Indonesia Biren Nanda said on Thursday in an international seminar in Yogyakarta's State University (UNY).
On the occasion, Nanda said countries using India's information technology services are the United States and some European countries.
"Information technology can cut the cost of companies and the government. It is very suitable for implementation in Indonesia," Nanda said.
Indonesia, like India, has many potentials like many qualified human resources that can support the development of information technology.
Nanda also said information technology has many advantages for development, because it does not need much physical means, it does not cause pollution, and can absorb many workers and employees.
Meanwhile, UNY rector Rochmat Wahab said information technology cannot be separated from people's life in the current globalization era.
"Information technology needs to be implemented in daily life if it is expected to be improved," Wahab said.
