QRC Warns against Environmental Hazard in Syria
Doha, February 23 (QNA) - Qatari Red Crescent (QRC) said Saturday that Aleppo is in urgent need of $1.5 million to execute a six-month plan to remove garbage from the city.
A QRC team had just returned to Doha from a field visit to Aleppo and the Northern region in Syria, with aim to identify where aid and assistance are needed, as well as to learn about the latest developments in the city. The spike in violence, according to the team, has led to a halt in all of the city's services, including garbage collecting and recycling. The manifestation of garbage has already coincided with an increase in the number of citizens infected with Cholera.
QRC's plan involves finding a comprehensive scheme to get rid of the garbage in the city. The second part of the plan is to provide finance for providing Diesel, which is used in operating machinery used in garbage services. (QNA)
