Yemen, Kuwait discuss investment cooperation
KUWAIT, Oct. 29 (Saba)-Co-chaired by Head of General Investment
Authority (GIA) Salah al-Attar and Chairman of Kuwaiti Commerce and
Trade Chamber Ali Ghanem, the meeting of Yemeni-Kuwaiti businessmen
discussed investment cooperation between Yemen and Kuwait.
Ghanem, who welcomed the Yemeni delegation, indicated that Kuwait
seeks for enhancing trade exchange with Yemen and exploiting
investment opportunities in both countries, noting necessity of
enhancing joint efforts for developing situation of trade exchange.
For his part, al-Attar who thanked officials at the Kuwaiti
Commercial and Industrial Chamber for good preparations for this
meeting, pointed out that this meeting is an extension to
cooperation between the two countries has started in 1970s,
asserting importance of translating this relation into real economic
partnership leading to successful Kuwaiti investments in Yemen.
He noted that the government has setout implementing completed
reform program for improving investment environment and widening
space to the private sector to play leading and basic role in
realizing sustainable development.
He added that GIA has succeeded in attracting Arab and foreign
investments worth more than $ 5 billion in different sectors, among
of which signing a treaty with the Kuwaiti Ewa'a Company for
setting up real estate and tourist projects, considering these
projects a good start for more Kuwaiti investments in Yemen.
