Damage in rain-devastated areas much more than reported, says OIC

JADDAH, Oct. 29 (Saba) - Secretary General of the Organization of
the Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has said that
the material and human losses caused due to heavy rains that hit
the eastern provinces of Yemen are much more than what media
reported.

The statement was based on the reports of the OIC mission sent to
Yemen to conduct reports on the damage and loss amount.

Ihsanoglu said conditions of the people in the
rainstorm-devastated areas became disastrous as the Yemeni
government and the OIC and other relief providers facing
difficulties to deliver aid for affected people.

He urged the OIC member states to provide helicopters as soon as
possible to help the Yemeni government efforts to reach-out the
affected.
