DIN : NEW WORLD MOVEMENT NEEDED TO IMPROVE THE AILING WORLD

Jakarta, Oct 29 (ANTARA) - A new world movement of peace and justice, namely to love the nation for unity and mutual work for concrete steps in dealing with the serious deterioration of the world is badly needed these days.

General Chairman of Muhammadiyah, the second largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, Dr Din Syamsuddin in his address in the Russian-Islamic World Conference held in Jeddah on October 27-29, 2008, said in a release on Wednesday that the world deterioration is accumulative and multidimensional which has hit various aspects of civilization, economy/finance, politics, culture and environment.

The conference is the fourth forum of the Strategic Russian-Islamc World Allience participated in by around 300 influential figures and intellectuals of Islamic countries and Russia.

Din Syamsuddin who represented Indonesia in the alliance, said that the world deterioration was inseparable from the seculer system which had ignored and negated religious values. The deterioration could happen because of liberalism, liberal democracy and culture.

The worst condition is due to the fact that the super power expands the wings of its hegemony to other countries to adopt its liberal system in the world.

Therefore, according to Din, such a new world movement functioning as an alternative to the deteriorating tendency was required. Otherwise, the world civilization would transfom into the worst condition.

The new world movement will bring with them such new paradigm which gives emphasis on values of justice, welfare, peace and civilization.

New paradigm should center on mid-way solution, a principle of which will avoid a country from being trapped in two extreme groups, namely the radicals and liberals.

Middle way principles are based on religion which has so far emerged as a solution and alternative to the worst world system, Din said.

Din Syamsuddin saw that the Strategic Rusian-Islamic World Alliance could be a new world force which will push for the new world movement by asking other countries in East Asia which will turn into growing regions in the future.
