ONCE NAMED SUSPECT, DIFFICULT FOR AULIA POHAN TO AVOID THE LAW

Jakarta, Oct 29 (ANTARA) - Golkar party trusted the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to handle the legal process against Aulia Pohan and some other suspects.

"Usually if someone has been named a suspect by the KPK, it is difficult for him/her to avoid the indictment," Priyo Budi Santoso, the Chairman of the Golkar faction in the House of Representatives, said here on Wednesday.

Priyo called for a legal process to be on the right track. "I think KPK has worked professionally in dealing with legal matters."
In anticipation of an intervention from the state palace in this case later, Priyo said it is most unlikely. "So far there is no indication into that direction."
In the meantime, House Speaker Agung Laksono said the KPK is doing its duty indiscriminately.

He also expressed appreciation to KPK for naming Aulia Pohan, farther-in-law of Yudhoyono's eldest son, suspect.

"I extend my appreciation on KPK's work which should highly uphold the principle of presumption of innocence," Agung said.

As to process of Aulia Pohan's arrest, Agung said he did not want to intervene. "Let's leave it to the KPK to do its job."
Indiscriminate action shown by KPK came under public spotlight. Hopefully it will bring efforts at combatting graft in Indonesia to a success, he said.
