Civil Defense Holds Second Firefighter Challenge
Doha, February 09 (QNA) - The Civil Defense Department of the Ministry of Interior will hold Qatar's second Firefighter Challenge in cooperation with The Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF), to celebrate National Sports Day.
Building on the success of the first edition last year, the challenge will focus on measuring the physical readiness of fire fighters to carry out their job.
Captain Hussein Aman Al-Ali on behalf of the General Directorate of Civil Defense said today that they considered the tournament "one of the most important methods of practicing stamina, strong reflexes and decision-making in dangerous situations." He added that all of the fire fighters in the Civil Defense Authority have been preparing for this year's event for some time.
For his part, Safety and Security Director at AZF Khalifa Al-Kubaisi said that the foundation sought to promote a culture of safety and security through organizing different events with various state entities, adding that promoting security was one of the pillars of work carried out by AZF, particularly when it comes to organizing international sports events.
A selection of participants will compete in the Challenge, including 30 firefighters from the General Directorate of Civil Defense Qatar, two teams from Qatar Petroleum, participating with 10 firefighters, five firefighters from the UAE Armed Forces, five firefighters from AssetCo Fire and Rescue in the UAE, and Lekhwiya.
