India keen on setting up fertiliser plants in Kazakhstan

Astana (Kazakhstan), Oct 29 (PTI) India has showed
interest in setting up fertiliser plants here and shipping
back the produced farm nutrient for use in the sub-continent
nation.

India's Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Wednesday held
discussions with Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov here
on various bilateral issues, including setting up of
fertiliser plants, an official statement said.

"India could cooperate with Kazakhstan in setting up
fertiliser plants there for exporting the fertilisers to our
country," Shinde said after meeting Massimov.

"We are looking forward to the visit of the President of
Kazakhstan which would further strengthen the friendly
political ties as well as economic and commercial relations,"
Shinde said.

The meeting, held on the backdrop of the international
financial crisis, also focused on the measures undertaken to
deal with the global slowdown.

Shinde, who is representing India at the Heads of
Governments meeting of the Shangai Cooperation Organisation
(S.C.O.), in which India is an observer state, here, expressed
confidence in the robustness of the Indian economy and
financial institutions.

He also explained the role of Reserve Bank of India in
strong regulation of financial sector in accordance with
prudent financial norms.
