ABOUT PREPARATION FOR CD MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Chairing the Community of Democracies (CoD) from July of 2011, Mongolia has started a preparation for the 7th Ministerial Conference of the CoD to launch it April 27-29 in Ulaanbaatar.
The Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag Thursday called the National preparation committee for a meeting.
He heard reports on the preparation and gave obligations to related officials.
The invited are state and government leaders of over ten countries and Foreign Ministers and political figures of some 130 countries. For the time being, almost one thousand representatives, including FMs of some ten countries and heads of international organizations, have reported to take part in the CoD Ministerial Conference, said L.Bold, the FM and deputy head of the National committee.
As scheduled, sub-meetings will run with topics "Education for democracy", "Corruption and other threats against democracy", "Two years after the Arab Revolution: Challenge and Lessons", "Democracy and Millennium Development Goals" and "Online and media freedom"; also, plenary meetings will take place on challenges to the civil society, women's role in democracy and an open governance. Moreover, forums of parliament, women, youths and civil society will be held.
Mr Bold said a website of the CoD Conference (www.cdmongolia.mn) is to open soon in Mongolian and English languages.
The CD is an intergovernmental organization founded in 2000. It works to strengthen democracy worldwide by providing support to emerging democracies and civil society, and it is composed of a governmental component made up of government representatives and a non-governmental component comprising civil society organizations.
Mongolia is chairing the CoD with a priority of developing the education for democracy, and is attaching a great importance to a support to formation of civil society organizations, to strengthening of the CoD's regional cooperation, to studying and sharing experience of nations in strengthening of the democracy and combating corruption.
