KHANBUMBAT AIRPORT BECOMES BEST CONSTRUCTION OF 2012

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A newly constructed airport "Khanbumbat", Khanbogd soum of Umnugobi province, has become the best construction of the Year of the Water Dragon of 2012. It has been announced as such by Mongolia's Chamber of Urban planning's development. The "Khanbumbat" airport meets all international civil aviation's standards, its interior and exterior's designs depict Mongolian traditional culture,for exampe, it has a shape of the Mongolian ger (national dwelling) painted in gold and copper. The airport can receive Boeing 737 aircraft and ab C 130 board, has Passengers Terminal Building, Air Traffic Control Tower and Fire Services facilities. The Khanbumbat airport site will also boast the single largest piece of concrete to be poured in the Gobi. The airport has capacity to receive 240 passengers per hour, longitude of runaway is 3,250 meters and depth of 45 meters. The challenge of paving 85,000m3 of concrete in 90 days to international standards in the Gobi desert is as extreme as the Gobi environment itself. Ch.Enkhtuya
