D&B BOI Index Qatar Shows Rise in Non-Oil Sector in Q1, 2013
Doha, February 03 (QNA) -"Dun & Bradstreet" Foundation , the world’s leading source of global business information, knowledge and insight , has said that Qatar's non-oil sectors to the business community are expected to witness diameter increased significantly during the first quarter of this year.
The Business Optimism Index (BOI)- Qatar for the first quarter of 2013, released by "Dun & Bradstreet" South Asia and the Middle East, "D & B", in collaboration with Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA), showcased that the non-oil sectors of Qatar Business Community increased by seven points to reach 45 points, which is the supreme figure compared to the last four seasons.
The BOI- Qatar for the first quarter of 2013 showed that the transport and communications sector in Qatar is witnessing a gradual improvement during 2013 in the Business Optimism Index for the third consecutive quarter. The BOI-Qatar noted that the oil and gas sector remained stable despite the marginal decline it recorded by only two points to become at 15 points compared to 17 points in the last quarter.
The BOI-Qatar for the first quarter of this year made great progress in the field of industry reached 46 points, up 13 points compared to the previous quarter, noting that this rise is due to the strength of the volume of sales strong in the sector, while the construction sector index rose by 13%, with strong earnings in sales and an increase in demand.
Concerning the transport sector, it has recorded an improvement with nine points compared to the previous quarter to reach 54 points, where the transport sector is the most optimistic in the first quarter among all sectors, while other sectors recorded a remarkable rise, including trade, hospitality and services sector.
Commenting on the index results in his press conference here today, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani, the representative of the Qatari Businessmen Association, said that the diversification of the economy is one of the main objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which is an effort based on the efforts of Qatari businessmen and businesswomen who are the basis upon which we rely on for making perceptions and visualizations that will help the country to achieve its national vision.
The index report, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani noted, emphasizes the determination and perseverance in which Qatar Business plays its role and also highlights the commitment of employers, businessmen and companies to ensure the survival of the country's economy solid and sustainable.
It is noted that the Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA) is a financial and business centre established by the Government of Qatar and located in Doha. It has been designed to attract international financial services institutions and major multi-national corporations in particular those operating in the reinsurance, captive insurance and asset management sectors and to encourage particular in the growing market for financial services in Qatar and elsewhere in the region.
