SCH Organizes Training Session on Formalized Coding Structure

Doha, February 03 (QNA) - The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has organized a training session for healthcare providers on a formalized coding structure for the system in Qatar, as part of the plans towards launching the National Health Insurance Scheme in the country. The coding system ICD-10-AM, allows the providers to use a uniform code for a whole range of services provided to patients. In turn, this allows for a coherent structure of fees for the whole of the healthcare system. The four-day training session was led by the SCH s consultant PwC with lead trainer Linda Best. Attendees at the session included representatives from some of the major public and private healthcare providers in Qatar. "This is the second of a series of training sessions on the new coding structure," explained Husein Reka, SCH s Health Insurance Program manager. "The coding structure is crucial to the upcoming National Health Insurance framework because it provides a uniform system for labeling and categorizing the services that patients receive for the healthcare," he said. The training forms part of the SCH s Provider Preparedness program for the launch of the National Health Insurance scheme designed to support providers in the reforming of the healthcare sector in Qatar.
