Iran-Syria Industries Committee meeting opens

Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA The eighth session of Iran-Syria Industries Committee chaired by
Iran's Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Akbar Mehrabian and his
Syrian counterpart Fouad Issa Aljouni began here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the session, Mehrabian said that Tehran-Damascus
industrial ties are expanding and the time is ripe for both sides to
witness miraculous prosperity in bilateral relations.

"Iran has made remarkable progress in the fields of mining and
industries and we are ready to make all our experiences available to
the Syrians," he said.

Mehrabian further said that Iran's state and private sectors are
prepared to implement projects in developing cement, steel and
aluminum industries, producing all kinds of automobiles, mineral
machinery and home appliances.

Grounds are ready for dramatic development in bilateral ties and
Iran's mining companies are prepared to negotiate with their Syrian
counterparts, he said.

"Our negotiations in the field of auto production are complete and we
can sign deals in the areas of bus production and tractor
manufacturing," he said.

Aljouni, for his part, said that his country has put Iran on top of
its economic cooperation agenda.

"We can cooperate in the fields of food and chemical industries, after
reviewing the projects," he said.

He added that Syrian technical group has toured Tabriz Tractor
Manufacturing Company and intends to cooperate with it.

Referring to the establishment of Hama Cement Factory in Syria,
Aljouni also said that this is one of the successful projects
undertaken by Iran.

The session opened on Tuesday and will end on Wednesday.
