PRESIDENT IN MEETING OF GREEN GROWTH ALLIANCE
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has taken part in a special meeting themed "Transforming Investment Flows" organized by the Green Growth Action Alliance within the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
The meeting has brought together leaders of countries and international organizations, including Mr Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).
Mr Elbegdorj said his country is aiming to set up an "Asian Super Network for a green development" in order to create the covering Asia an electricity transmission network which goes from Mongolia. In other words, Mongolia intends to produce electricity from renewable energy, "and it might fully provide the Asian consumption", Mr Elbegdorj added.
"We have named this project as the 'Gobi Tech'. As estimated, only a wind energy reserve in Mongolia can produce the electricity that is able to satisfy whole China, and, if to add to it our solar energy, we can provide whole Asia with the electricity. It means that nations have a big opportunity to invest in Mongolia," Mr Elbegdorj said.
In frames of this special meeting, a discussion ran on creating a big treaty to be a successor of the Kyoto Protocol.
