Dr. Al-Sada Inaugurates Safety Challenges in Oil & Gas Industry Forum
Doha, January 24 (QNA) - HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum (QP) inaugurated here on Thursday the Forum on "Safety Challenges in Oil & Gas Industry."
The event, which is organized by Dukhan Operations, was attended by a number of relevant actors in oil and gas industries.
In his keynote address, Dr. Al Sada said the forum aims to bring together Oil&Gas companies operating in the country to share best practices, exchange of information, ideas and opinions; explore the latest safety management techniques according to the latest safety standards as a key element to the success of any organization in order to address the safety challenges associated with the industry process.
He expressed hope that this event would promote a culture of safety in the Oil & Gas Industry, which would improve performance in the workplace.
He also stressed the role that safety plays in the hydrocarbon industry in present and in the future as a key element for further industry growth.
Safety standards, Crisis and Emergency Management and the human element involved remain a major focus in the success of the sector according to the Qatar National Vision 2030, the Minister went on saying.
In this context, Dr. Al Sada urged Oil and gas industry leaders to pay a greater role in spreading a culture of safety, which reflects the commitment towards ensuring safety of the work environment and the personal and public safety and would be reflected positively.
Throughout the entire upstream and downstream processes, QP implements safety standards in its broadest sense, which encompasses not only ecological impacts but also community issues, Dr. Al Sada explained.
He praised the achievements of Qatar Petroleum and its subsidiaries in overcoming various safety challenges.
Despite QP's excellent safety record, Dr. Al Sada called for promoting continual improvement in the safety performance of oil & gas companies as well as the sharing of best practices. (QNA)
