Qatar Financial Centre Authority to Host 7th MultaQa Qatar Conference
Doha, January 23 (QNA) - The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority on Wednesday announced that it will host the 7th MultaQa Qatar conference from March 11 to 12, 2013 in Doha.
The event which is organised in partnership with Global Reinsurance magazine has developed since its inception in 2007 into the leading 'Rendez-vous' for the risk and (re)insurance industry in the MENA region, QFC said in a statement.
More than 450 senior executives and experts will convene in Doha to examine strategic industry opportunities and challenges. Among other topics, the conference will discuss the state and prospects of the global insurance industry, the role of reinsurance in emerging markets, the insurance needs of major infrastructure projects and the rise of Enterprise Risk Management. In addition, MultaQa Qatar 2013 will feature regional CEO and global reinsurance panel debates.
In this regard, CEO and Board Member of the QFC Authority Shashank Srivastava said: "MultaQa Qatar exemplifies Qatar's commitment to building a vibrant insurance and reinsurance sector. We believe that the sector is vital to facilitating the transformation of Qatar into a modern, diversified knowledge economy as well as to deepening and broadening the country's financial markets."
'MultaQa Qatar is a unique platform for us to harness regional and global dialogue and thought-leadership to promote the development of Qatar's insurance and reinsurance sector," he added.
For his part, Director of the Strategic Development at the QFC Authority Akshay Randeva said: "As in the past we have put together a compelling agenda to showcase the burgeoning insurance and reinsurance sector in the MENA region and discuss its interrelation with the global risk markets. This year's panel of speakers and more than 450 expected attendees are testimony to the growing attractiveness of MultaQa Qatar as the industry's key platform and networking event in the MENA region. We believe that in addition to enjoying compelling presentations and discussions, our delegates will discover the best of Qatar's business and cultural environment."
Set up by the Government of Qatar in 2005, the QFC Authority is responsible for leading the expansion of Qatar's financial services sector and for developing relationships with the regional and global financial community.
In February 2010 the QFC Authority unveiled a new strategy focusing on the creation of a global business hub for three core markets - Asset Management, Reinsurance and Captive Insurance. (QNA)
