25 vans cross LoC on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route for trade

Srinagar, Oct 28 (PTI) Nearly 25 vans Tuesday crossed the
Line of Control (L.o.C.) at Kaman Post in Baramulla district
on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route as part of the cross-L.o.C.
trade between India and Pakistan.

"Eighteen pick-up vans loaded with fruit from this side
crossed the L.o.C. while seven vans loaded with onions,
garlic, Pomegranate and Bananas came from the other side," an
official told P.T.I.

Cross-L.o.C. trade started between Jammu and Kashmir and
Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (P.o.K.) on October 21 under an
agreement reached between New Delhi and Islamabad.

The trade has been initially started on "zero duty" and
"barter" basis, with a list of 21 commodities approved for
exchange between the two sides.

The list of items on the list is subject to review every
three months depending on the demand of products from the
either side.

On the first day of trade, 28 vehicles -- 13 from this
side and 15 from the other side -- crossed the L.o.C. after
Governor N.N. Vohra flagged off the vans, marking resumption
of trade on this route after a gap of 61 years.
