Dolphin Doha Dash to Aid ROTA's Push for Education
Doha, January 22 (QNA) - Funds raised from the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash, as part of Qatar National Sports Day (NSD) to be observed here February 12, will help Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) to continue providing high quality primary and secondary education, a senior executive of the company said Tuesday.
Speaking about the sports event on NSD, Dolphin Energy, Qatar, General Manager Adel Ahmed Albuainain said, "As part of the company's Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) and community outreach programmes, we have
supported ROTA annually since 2008. The money raised through Doha Dash will boost ROTA's initiatives directed to educational environmental projects as well as supporting ROTA's proactive community and youth programmes here in Qatar."
Regarding the company's objectives in supporting the Doha Dash, he said, "We want to introduce a successful and enjoyable mass participation running event in Doha. The concept is already very popular in the Middle East with events like the Dubai Marathon, the Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run, the Amman 10km and the Beirut Marathon. We want to give the same opportunity to the citizens and residents of Qatar."
On the importance of NSD he said, "Sport and a healthy lifestyle is very important for all and we have a responsibility to our staff and stakeholders to encourage activities that promote this.
"We believe the NSD is an excellent opportunity for everyone to do something active - it should not be thought of as a day off work, but a reason to do something that will benefit the participant's health."
All of our senior management from the UAE and Qatar will be participating in the Dolphin Energy Doha
Dash, along with several hundred members of our staff from here in Qatar, he added.
On why Lusail Circuit was selected as the venue, Albuainain said, "It's safe and it can to cater to thousands of participants and provide free parking and great facilities for everyone. Moreover, running on a track which is usually reserved for motorbikes and cars will be a unique experience, probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for many participants." (QNA)
