FM ADDRESSES REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATION FOR DEMOCRACY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold addressed an opening of a regional conference of Asia-Pacific countries on the education for democracy held Thursday in New Delhi, India in a scope of the Community of Democracies (CoD).
Beginning his speech, the Minister thanked the Indian side for co-organizing the conference, accepting an initiative of the Mongolian President on cooperating in distribution of the education for democracy and strengthening democracy in the region. This conference is one of the biggest and tangible works done for strengthening democracy by Mongolia that is chairing the CoD, he added.
“The 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted last year's November a draft resolution on education for democracy (document A/67/L.25) by consensus. It means that world countries recognized the education can play a vital role in strengthening the democratic institutions, ensuring human rights, forwarding international developmental goals, developing human resource, reducing poverty rate and expanding the mutual understanding of nations,” Mr Bold underlined. He hoped that the regional countries will significantly contribute to realizing the UN resolution, and then urged them to collaborate in it.
At the conference's opening, speeches were given by Pallam Raju, the India's Minister of Human Resources Development; and Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, the Special Secretary Ministry of External Affairs.
Mr Bold held a meeting with the Human Resources Development and shared views on expanding the education for democracy in the region and deepening the bilateral ties in the education sphere. In addition, the Minister stressed that Mongolia is ready to launch from the first quarter of 2013 a project on establishing a joint center of IT training and outsourcing together with India. Then he expressed a willingness of Mongolia to cooperate with India in improving the training equality of English language in Mongolia.
To continue until Friday, the conference has brought together delegates from almost 20 regional countries, the UNESCO and the UN Foundation for Democracy.
