GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS HAVING LITTLE IMPACT ON RI-CHINA TRADE RELATIONS
Beijing, Oct 28 (ANTARA) - Trade relations and cooperation in various sectors between Indonesia and China are still running according to plans and have not been affected much by the global financial crisis, an Indonesian official here said.
"The global financial crisis has so far had little impact on trade relations between Indonesia and China, and hopefully the ties will remain strong in the future," Indonesian trade attache in Beijing Imbang Listiyadi said here on Tuesday.
He said various measures had been taken to maintain good relations and cooperations in various fields between the two countries.
Imbang Listiyadi said the two countries were trustworthy trade partners to each other. They needed each other and therefore many Indonesian products were needed by China.
He said oil and rubber exports from Indonesia to China would not be affected by the global financial crisis because demand for the two commodities in China was high.
"In addition, we will also continue to diversity our market to various areas in China, among others by participating in trade fairs to promote Indonesia's potentials," Imbang said.
He said the participation of a number of Indonesian businessmen in the "Fourth West China Cultural Product Fair" October 11-14, 2008 in Xi'an, Shannxi province, Central China, had yielded positive results and been welcomed by local businessmen and people.
"The participation of Indonesian businessmen in the West China Cultural Product Fair got very good positive results because Indonesian stands were mostly visited by local businessmen and people," Imbang said.
According to him, local businessmen and people had a profound interest in various Indonesian products and services offered by Indonesian businessmen at the fair.
He said Indonesia's national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, for example, aroused the local tourist operators' enthusiastic interest in tourism objects in Indonesia and prompted them to ask how people could visit Indonesia.
