MONGOLIA TO COOPERATE WITH UN WOMEN ORGANIZATION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Mr O.Och met with Ms Michelle Bachelet, the Executive Director of the UN Women organization January 14. He spoke about the works the Government is doing to implement the Millennium Development goals, to provide the gender equality, to empower women. Ms Bachelet congratulated Mongolia on adopting the law on Gender equality and on the elections, which increased a quota of women in parliament and the cabinet. Then she spoke about the cooperation her organization has been boosting with the Mongolian government and NGOs to empower women and to increase their knowledge and education. The two sides shared views on a theme “Elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls”, under which a 57th session under status of women will run at the UN this March, and agreed to cooperate in this issue.
