"JUSTICE" COALITION'S FACTION MEETS
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A parliamentary faction of the "Justice" coalition (Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and the Mongolian National Democratic Party) has announced that it will submit to parliament a draft law on establishing a Standing committee on human rights, expanding a sub-committee on human rights.
The faction said it during its regular meeting Monday, at which its members consolidated their positions on several issues.
A draft amendment was backed to the law on State Great Khural initiated by N.Enkhbold and other MPs. This amendment says about improving the legal capacity of parliamentary actions, increasing MPs' participation in a decision-making process, creating a principle as to widely considering and tackling any matters. The draft also has a purpose to expand the parliamentary Standing committees.
The faction also decided to set up a working group responsible for analyzing a draft law on border checkpoints which was backed January 5 by the cabinet. The bill's main objectives are to facilitate the external trade, to reduce/abolish bureaucracy and many phases at the state services, and to create a proper system for augmenting the outcomes.
Initiated by G.Uyanga MP, a draft amendment to the law on the National Security Council (NSC) was one of the important agendas discussed by the faction. The draft was backed and will undergo a revision.
In addition, the faction supported a group of people who are on hunger strike, demanding a release of the MPRP chairman N.Enkhbayar from prison. The faction claims these people are fighting for human rights.
