Zakat Fund Offers Medical Aid Worth 9 Million Riyals During Last Year

Doha January 14 (QNA) - The Zakat Fund has announced that the value of its medical aid provided over the past year amounted to nearly 9 million Qatari riyals and benefited about 500 cases.        In a press release distributed today, the Zakat Fund said the value of the assistance provided during the period from January to December 2012 amounted to 8,860,681 Qatari Riyals with the number of benefiting cases benefiting totaling 497    The Fund explained that the aid was provided in coordination and cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation in regard to treatment at home as well as with the Supreme Council of Health in regard to cases requiring treatment abroad.    He pointed out that the number of cases transferred from Hamad Medical Corporation and eligible for help reached 452 and varied between surgery, treatment of hepatitis C, fees of caesarean operations and others.    With regard to therapeutic aid abroad, in coordination with the Department of medical offices for treatment abroad at the Supreme Council of Health, the number of cases totaled 33. In the same context, the Fund provided assistance to 4 cases transferred from the Qatar Diabetes Association, earmarked for the purchase of insulin pumps and accessories for patients with diabetes who are eligible for help, while 8 cases were provided with assistance for the purchase of necessary medical equipment ranging from artificial limbs, breathing apparatus, medical devices and medical shoes sugar.(QNA)
