WREATHS LAID TO MONUMENT OF CHINGIS KHAAN ON DAY OF CONSTITUTION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On occasion of the 21st anniversary of the new Constitution of Mongolia, the state leaders have laid wreaths to the Monument of Great Chingis Khaan. At the ceremony, which ran on weekend, took part the Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold, the Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag, MPs and Ministers. Present were also members of the former People's Khural and civil representatives who participated in approval of the Constitution. The Constitution of Mongolia was adopted on January 13, 1992, put into force on February 12, and was amended in 1999 and 2001. The new Constitution established a parliamentary democracy, guaranteeing freedoms of religion, rights, expression, government setup, election cycle etc. Written after the 1990's democratic revolution, the document consists of a preamble and six chapters divided into 70 articles. The previous Constitutions had been adopted in 1924, 1940 and 1960. B.Khuder
