Senior US Government Delegation Hails "Outstanding Leadership" at Qatar Foundation

Doha, January 09 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development hosted a delegation from the United States government participating in a cultural exchange programme earlier today. A welcoming committee received the 23 representatives of the US Congress, Department of State, and Department of Homeland Security at the Qatar Foundation Visitor Center. They witnessed a presentation outlining the vision and mission of Qatar Foundation. Educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research projects taking place on campus were explained in further detail. A 3D scale model of the site s current buildings and construction projects was also on display. Members of the tour were impressed by the tremendous growth that has taken place since Qatar Foundation s inauguration in 1995, in addition to the wide breadth of academic and research opportunities that have been made available on campus. The group is in Doha for a ten-day visit to gain first-hand experience and perspective of the region s heritage and values. Many of the delegates are visiting the Middle East for the first time. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senior Legislative Assistant for United States Senator Charles E. Schumer explained the group s enthusiasm for touring Qatar Foundation. "Visiting Qatar Foundation makes it clear how dedicated Qatar is to building a knowledge economy, and it should be commended for this tremendous achievement," he said. "It s very inspiring to see so many resources amongst the universities and institutions here dedicated to building the nation s future and to see such outstanding leadership. "And that is very inspirational to us, to have them place such a priority on it. Qatar Foundation is really looking to the future by being pragmatic and strategic in its long-term planning. It is clear that there has been a lot of deliberate decision-making, and, consequently, tremendous benefit. That s part of why Qatar Foundation is where it is today." (QNA)
