OIC grants $250,000 in urgent aid for victims of heavy rains

JEDDAH, Oct. 27 (Saba) - The Organization of Islamic Conference
(OIC) has announced an urgent financial grant worth $250,000 to
support victims of rains and floods in the eastern provinces of
Yemen.

Director of the Humanitarian affairs at the OIC Fuad al Maznai said
in a press statement that this aid comes in the framework of
urgent relief efforts released by Secretary General of OIC
Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglo to support Yemen to overcome this
calamity.

He said the Islamic Solidarity Fund affiliated with the organization
undertook $ 200.000 of the grant.

On the other hand, Yemen's ambassador to Saudi Arabia Muhammad Saleh
al-Qutaish discussed with the spokesman of the OIC Ata'a al-Manan
Bakheet ways to unify efforts to deal with the effects of heavy
rains that lashed several eastern and southern provinces.

Bakheet said the OIC will send a mission to visit effected areas and
to report on the damage caused.

He added the organization will conduct two phase relief program, the
first would be through contacting member states and international
humanitarian organizations and the second through re-building and
rehabilitating the destroyed areas.
