POLICE ARREST DRUG TRAFFICKER KEEPING OVER 2,000 ECSTASY PILLS

Jakarta, Oct. 28 (ANTARA) - Central Jakarta Police here on Monday arrested Jasmin Pjan for keeping 2,020 ecstasy pills worth Rp202 million.

"He was arrested at the Plaza Gadjah Mada Mall, Central Jakarta, early Monday at 10 am local time," Chief of the Central Jakarta Police's Illicit Drug Unit Commissioner Yossy Runtukahu told he press.

Jasmin Pjan was caught after a meeting with someone identified as Lee. Pjan, a former convict, claimed that he was just a courier of another drug trafficker identified as Ryan, who is now wanted by the police. Meanwhile Lee is courier of Boim, also a drug trafficker.

The police suspected their presence in the shopping mall and decided to detain Pjan.

In the police grilling, Pjan said that he had been asked by Boim to collect ecstasy in a checkroom at a shopping mall in Central Jakarta. Boim is an illicit drug boss who controlled ecstasy trafficking from Salemba Prison, Central Jakarta.

Lee had earlier put 1,000 ecstasy pills in a milk can and saved it in the mall's checkroom.

"When Jasmin arrived in the location, Lee gave him a checkroom card. Lee immediately left the mall and escaped the police arrest," Yossy said.

Based on Pjan's information, the police later found 1,020 ecstasy pills in Pjan's home located in North Jakarta. Pjan said he planned to hand over the pills to Ryan.
