Qatari Cities Compete for Arab Town Organizations Award

Doha, December 30 (QNA) - The total number of nominations for the 11th Arab Towns Organization Awards reached 53, with 16 in the architectural field and 37 in the beautification of cities. Head of the general secretariat of the award Mohammed Ahmed Al Sayed said that the jury will consist of Dr. Mohammed Hisham Saudi Kamel from Egypt, Dr. Saleh Ali Al Hathloul from Saudi Arabia, HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani from Qatar, Dr. Amer Sha'aban from Libya, Dr. Ghassan Joudeh from Palestine and Dr. Saif Al Din Sadeq Hassan from Sudan. The jury will meet at the organization's headquarters in Doha on February 12 for three days, after which they will announce the winners. The cities nominated for the architectural awards are nine: Dubai (UAE), Aswan (Egypt), Al Daayen (Qatar), Manama (Bahrain), Khartoum (Sudan), Kuwait and Aqaba (Jordan). In the architectural field, four cities are nominated: Algiers, Halhul (Palestine), Al Mathnab and Damam (Saudi Arabia. In the beautification category, all of Abu Simbel (Egypt), Al Rayyan (Qatar), Al Ain (UAE), Al Shamal (Qatar), Cairo (Egypt), Dubai (UAE) Damascus (Syria), Aswan (Egypt), Sharjah (UAE), Amman (Jordan), Damam Saudi Arabia, Khartoum (Sudan), OmDurman (Sudan).
