Diplomatic Institute Releases New Edition of "The Diplomat"

Doha, December 30 (QNA) - The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Khalid Bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, has underlined the importance of hosting the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 18), praising HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani's opening speech, which confirms Qatar's keenness to address global climate change and cooperate with the international community to meet long-term solutions. In a message at the forefront of the 4th edition of the seasonal magazine "The Diplomat "released by the Qatar Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Al Attiyah underlined HH the Emir's call for political will to tackle the climate change crisis while urging the developed countries to fulfill their commitments to help developing countries cope with the effects of climate change. Climate change has increasingly gained political and public attention in the last three decades due to its socio-economic impacts, he noted. Hosting this event demonstrates Qatar's pioneering efforts to pave the way for the Parties to the UNFCCC to reach positive and efficient outcomes and extend the Kyoto Protocol to 2020, Dr. Al Attiyah concluded. The magazine's new issue covers a number of topics including the follow-up of COP 18, the most prominent speeches delivered during COP18, and the "Doha Climate Gateway" that includes extension of Kyoto Protocol (KP2), setting time table for the 2015 global climate change agreement and climate finance.
