UZEYIR HAJIBAYOV`S OPERA “LEYLI AND MAJNUN” PERFORMED IN UN HEADQUARTERS
Baku, 27 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)A solemn ceremony on the occasion of the United Nations
Day took place in New York, on October 24.
In the framework of the ceremony, a concert with participation of the ensemble “Silk
Road” under the UN peace ambassador Yo-Yo Ma was arranged here.
Popular master of mugam, Azerbaijan`s people`s artist Alim Gasimov with his daughter
Fargana performed the first act of the eminent Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir
Hajibayov`s opera “Leyli and Majnun”.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the 63rd session of the structure Mr.
Miguel D’Escoto Brockman and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in
UN attended the event.
