RI`S 2008 ECONOMIC GROWTH RATE EXPECTED TO REMAIN OVER SIX PCT
Jakarta, Oct 27 (ANTARA) - The country's economy is expected to have still grown by above six percent in the third quarter of this year so that economic growth in the whole year is likely to remain higher than six percent, a senior Finance Ministry official said.
"Actually, the economy still grew quite rapidly until the third quarter of this year so there is nothing to worry about," Anggito Abimanyu, head of the finance ministry's fiscal policies, said after attending a meeting between the energy and mineral resources minister and the House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission VII to discuss domestic fuel oil prices here on Monday.
He said based upon the world's economic growth, the government was still seeing the possibility for the country's economy to grow in the fourth quarter of 2008.
He said the government predicted the country's economic growth in the fourth quarter would be as high as in the third quarter.
"We are predicting growth in the fourth quarter will be as high as in the third quarter and so the annual growth figure will still be above six percent," he said.
The target of the country's economic growth in the Amended 2008 State Budget was set at 6.4 percent but in August the government predicted growth would reach only 6.2 percent.
In the Draft 2009 State Budget the target of the country's economic growth meanwhile was set at 6 percent.
