Iran, Iraq ink MoU on youth affairs

Iranian and Iraqi officials signed a memorandum of understanding on
Sunday for bilateral cooperation in the field of youth affairs and
sport activities.

The MoU was inked by Iran's Vice-President in youth affairs
Mohammad-Javad Ali-Akbari and Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Jasim
Muhammad Jafar.

The two called for exchange of youth delegations between the two
countries as well as promotion of bilateral cooperation in the field
of youth affairs.

They also agreed to establish a joint committee for youth which would
follow up promotion of Iran-Iraq cooperation in the field of youth
affairs by holding biennial meetings.

Ali-Akbari arrived in Iraqi two days ago to discuss bilateral ties on
youth affairs with senior Iraqi officials.

He has so far, held separate meetings with Iraqi President Jalal
Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Leader of the Supreme
Islamic Iraqi Council (known as Supreme Council for the Islamic
Revolution in Iraq) Abdul Aziz al-Hakim on the latest regional
developments.

The Iranian vice-president is also to visit the holy cities of Najaf
and Karbala.
