Yemen, IMF discuss policies to tackle economic challenges
SANA'A, Oct. 25 (Saba) - Yemen and International Monterey Fund (IMF)
discussed here on Saturday potential policies and programs to deal
with challenges the Yemeni economy face during the coming years.
During a meeting gathered Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi and a delegation of IMF, the two
sides discussed the global financial crisis impacts on the Yemeni
economy and how to alleviate them.
The minister praised IMF's support and technical assistance to
Yemeni government under current cooperation framework between the
Yemen and Fund.
For his part, chairman of the IMF delegation expressed the Fund's
willingness to provide the technical assistance to the country,
particularly in areas of activating the role of monetary policy and
banking monitoring.
The IMF official praised the government's effort in fields of
economic reforms, preparation of the state general budgets, exchange
rate management and balance of payments.
