PROMINENT AZERBAIJANI SINGER, PEOPLE`s ARTIST OF USSR, MUSLUM MAGOMAYEV DIES AT 67
Baku, 25 0ctober ,(AzerTAj) - Prominent Azerbaijani singer, People`s Artist of USSR, holder of Azerbaijan`s highest state awards “Shohrat” and “Istiglal”, Muslum Magomayev has died at his 67 in Moscow.
Muslim Magomayev`s star shined in the 70s of the last century.
Our outstanding fellow countryman frequently said that important role in his
becoming a singer was played by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.
Despite he lived the last part of his life in Moscow, Muslum Magomayev was always in
close touch with his Motherland where he was known as a strong patriot and was loved
as a performer of the song Azerbaijan, which became his calling card.
In his congratulatory letter on the occasion of the singer`s anniversary, President
Ilham Aliyev said: “We all are rightfully proud of you. You are our living history.
Azerbaijanis who were witnesses of an unprecedented ascent of your talent will
always value you as a great master of true art.”
