WAMY provides urgent relief to Somalis

Riyadh, October 25, SPA -- The World Assembly of Muslim Youth handed
over emergency relief for Somali refugees at the border of Kenya who
live in miserable conditions and face difficult weather situation.


This came in continuation of WAMY's role to provide relief and
facilitate humanitarian works in Somalia and other regions of the
world in the shape of relief materials costing $ 300,000.


OIC Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Atta
Mannan Bakhit expressed thanks and appreciation for the role played
by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth in assisting the Somali
refugees.


The ambassador, in a letter to WAMY's Secretary-General Dr. Saleh
Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al-Wuhaibi, said "We appreciate this urgent action
in response to the appeal of the Secretary-General of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference to provide relief to the
Somali refugees at the Kenyan border."


Mannan also noted the joint efforts undertaken by WAMY and OIC to
alleviate the sufferings of the needy in the Muslim world.
