MARKET DIVERSIFICATION INDONESIA TRADE EXPO
Jakarta, Oct 24 (ANTARA) - On the forth day of the Indonesia Trade Expo 2008 many buyers from several non-traditional markets such as Africa, South America and Eastern Europe already made deals or are still having negotiations, the organizing committee told a press conference here Friday.
Some exhibitors expressed enthusiasm about the promising prospects, such as a participant form New Sentosa company which produces its own fire fighting trucks and exported them to Tanzania and Sudan.
"In this exhibition we got a tender invitation from Nigeria for 20 units, while Libyan buyers are still in the middle of negotiations for five trucks," he said.
Meanwhile, an exhibitor Achmad Rivai of Siji Lifestyle which produces natural fibre for home accessories said "We are surprised to have buyers from six South American countries like Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Panama besides Finland interested in our products and made some deals worth US$ 50-100 thousand".
"This goes with the theme "What Would the World Do Without Indonesia"," Bachrul Chairi, head of National Agency for Export Development said responding to the transaction development reports during the exhibition.
Meanwhile the organizing committee reported after three days of transactions US$ 32.3 million of furniture is on top of the list with US$ 8.1 million (25.2%) followed by mining resources US$ 7.3 million (22.7%) and CPO US$ 5.8 million (18%).
South Korea was listed as country with the largest transaction value of US$ 4 million or 12.5% of the total figure. Algeria, Pakistan and Bangladesh come later contributing respectively US$ 2.9 million (9.1%), US$1.5 million and US$1.2 million.
