ECONOMIC SITUATION UNDER CONTROL
Baku, 24 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)The global economic crisis will not seriously affect
Azerbaijan, said Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of
Azerbaijan. He described the current financial situation in the country as stable
noting Azerbaijan’s foreign liquidity more than doubles its foreign debt, which does
not exceed $8 billion.
On the microeconomic situation, Rustamov pointed out that foreign debt of
Azerbaijan’s banks totals $2 billion, half of which is that of the International
Bank of Azerbaijan. “No problem with repaying the debt. Depositors, creditors and
bank shareholders can continue their activities securely, the rumors are baseless,
and one should not believe them,” he said.
