HINDRAF FOLLOWERS GATHER OUTSIDE PUTRAJAYA POLICE HQ

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Some 30 followers of the banned Hindu Rights
Action Force (Hindraf) organisation have gathered outside the Putrajaya police
headquarters here to get the latest information on 11 of their comrades who were
detained by police earlier Thursday.

They began gathering there at 7pm and were still there at the time this
report was filed.

The 11 supporters (eight men and three women) were detained at about 3.30pm
after they held an illegal assembly outside the Prime Minister's office here and
attempted to submit a memorandum calling for the release of five Hindraf
leadwers detained under the Internal Security Act.

The group also had used a six-year-old girl to carry a poster in pushing
their agenda.

However, Putrajaya police chief Supt Abdul Razak Abdul Majid, when
contacted, declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Wira Mohammad Sabtu Osman, when
asked about it, confirmed the arrest of the 11 was done according the Societies
Act 1966 and that they were being investigated for participating in an illegal
assembly.
